Hartlepool United have appointed Ian Moore – son of manager Ronnie – as the club’s new chief scout.

The former Pools striker, who scored nine goals in 30 games for the club, was signed by Danny Wilson in the summer of 2007 after his release from Leeds United.

He knows what the game is about and he did a lot for me when I was at Tranmere.

Moore wasn’t at Pools long before moving to be closer to home, signing for Tranmere Rovers – managed by his dad – in January 2008.

The Pools boss says he is looking forward to working closely with his son again, who did some scouting work for him at Tranmere.

Moore told SportMail: “I am pleased to get Ian in.

“He knows what the game is about and he did a lot for me when I was at Tranmere.

“I don’t think he is going to send a wrong report in is he, seeing as though he is part of the family!

“He won’t miss much.

“It is good for us and it will be good for him as well.

“I am looking forward to working with him.

“He was at Morecambe for us recently, watching them ahead of the first game.”

Pools chairman Gary Coxall confirmed the news via Twitter, welcoming Moore Jnr to the League Two club.

The 38-year-old is scouting Fleetwood Town this weekend, ahead of Hartlepool United’s Capital One Cup tie against them on Tuesday night.
