HARTLEPOOL United have been dealt a major double injury blow with Scott Fenwick and Matthew Bates both ruled out for at least a month.

In-form Fenwick has been struggling with an ankle problem since the away game at Tranmere Rovers and, after undergoing an MRI scan, the striker has been advised to let the injury settle.

He is wearing a ‘moon boot’ to give some added protection while he rests for a minimum of four weeks.

Meanwhile, Bates has seen a consultant following the dead leg sustained at Portsmouth and tests showed a very deep bleed in his left leg.

He has been told to rest for a minimum of six weeks.

Pools play Bury at Gigg Lane this afternoon in Sky Bet League Two and manager Ronnie Moore has made on change.

Marlon Harewood, subbed at half-time against Stevenage, has been dropped for Connor Smith.
