LUKE James starts for Hartlepool United against Dagenham & Redbridge tonight just 24-hours after handing in a transfer request.

The 19-year-old has been strongly linked with a big money move to Peterborough United.

But he is in the team tonight for the match at Victoria Park (KO 7.45pm) as Colin Cooper makes two changes from the weekend 2-0 defeat to Bury.

Midfielders Michael Woods and Ryan Brobbel come into the starting line-up, with Marlon Harewood dropping down to the bench.

Tommy Millers misses out altogether through injury.

Pools will be playing a diamond formation, with Woods at the top and Stuart Parnaby playing holding midfield. Brad Walker and Ryan Brobbel will be playing wide.

Summer signing Jamie Cureton starts for the Daggers, one of a dozen summer signings brought in.

Today, Pools target Christian Burgess signed a four-year deal with Peterborough United. The central defender spent time on loan from Championship neighbours Middlesbrough last season and Cooper had hoped to bring him back on loan.

Pools (4-4-2): Flinders, Duckworth, Austin, Bates, Holden, Parnaby, Walker, Brobbel, Woods, Franks, James.

Subs: Dixon, Richards, Collins, Compton, Hawkins, Smith, Harewood.

Dagenham & Redbridge (4-4-2): O’Brien, Connors, Doe, Saah, Cureton, Ogogo, Chambers, Howell, Partridge, Hemmings, Boucaud.
