COLIN Cooper has named Luke James, Sam Collins and Tommy Miller in the team to play Whitby Town this afternoon.
Striker James and trialist Miller, who has been training with the club for two weeks, are the only survivors from the 3-0 defeat to Sunderland on Wednesday night.
Former Pools and Sunderland midfielder was released from Bury at the end of last season and Cooper is giving him a further run out this afternoon.
Cooper said in the run up to the game he was due to give the rest of the squad a run out against Whitby, managed by ex-Poolie Darren Williams, and there are several younger players in the starting line-up.
James and Jonathan Franks are expected to start up front, with Connor Smith, Lewis Hawkins, Josh Rowbotham and Miller in midfield.
The pre-season friendly against the side from the Evo-Stik Premier Division is being played at the Turnbull Ground.
Whitby have former Pools players Lee Bullock and Mark Robinson in their team.
It is Pools’ fourth friendly match of the season, following the 9-0 win over Billingham Town, the 1-0 win over Bradford Park Avenue and the defeat to Gus Poyet’s side in midweek.
