THERE will be a new voice at Victoria Park this season after Pools appointed a new public address announcer.
A company owned by former Radio 1 and Radio Tees presenter Mark Page is to provide the PA announcing service for all first team games at The Vic.
The new arrangement sees the company choose all of the pre-match music, as well as half time duties and announcements during the game.
Hartlepool-born Greig Darby, a local DJ and part of Middlesbrough’s matchday team, will be the main voice for every Pools home game, backed up by Mark.
Mark said: “We are excited to be providing the matchday announcing and music for the club.
“We hope that we can spur Colin Cooper’s team onto a swift climb back up the Football League.”
Greig added: “It’s an honour to work for my hometown club and I’m proud to be able to take over matchday announcing duties.”
Pools, who welcome Southend United to The Vic tomorrow, will run out to a track by local rock band The Jar Family called Machine.
The new announcing team take over from Phil Dunn, who has stepped down due to work commitments.
Prior to Phil, the matchday announcer was the long-serving John Orley.
