HARTLEPOOL United’s hopes of joining Mansfield Town at the top of the Reserve League Cup table has been thwarted by the weather.

Pools’ second string’s Final Third Development League Cup game was today postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

The match had been scheduled for Wednesday’s Middlewood Training Ground but heavy overnight rain left the pitch flooded.

No new date had been set for the re-arrangement of the game, which is Pools’ final game in Group B.

Mansfield are top on nine points with Pools second with six but with a better goal difference.

Jack Compton, James Poole, Nialle Rodney and Anthony Sweeney were all due to play.
