VIDEO: Ronnie Moore pleased to kick start the new League Two season at home

Hartlepool United boss Ronnie Moore is looking forward to a “fantastic atmosphere” when Pools host Morecambe on the opening day of the 2015-16 season.

Pools are usually away on the opening day of the season but the football fixture computer has been kinder this year with the Shrimps heading to Victoria Park on Saturday, August 8.

“I’m certainly pleased that we’re at home for the first game of the season,” Moore told the club’s website.

“It’s always nice to play in front of your own fans to start off with, especially when we’ll have quite a few new players on show.

“I’m sure it will be a fantastic atmosphere.”

Pools, who pulled off the Great Escape last year to maintain their place in the Football League, make the short trip to York City for their first away game.

The return fixture against the Minstermen sees them travel to Pools on April 16.

Other key fixtures to look out for include Carlisle United at home on August 29, with the reverse fixture on December 28.

At Easter Pools are scheduled to host AFC Wimbledon on Saturday, March 26, with a trip to Leyton Orient on Easter Monday.

Pools are at home on Boxing Day to Notts County, before heading to Carlisle United on Monday, December 28 and Newport County on Saturday, January 2.

Meanwhile the last game of the season is a long trip to the south coast to take on Plymouth Argyle.
