COLIN Cooper says he and assistant boss Craig Hignett are “wiping the slate clean” at Hartlepool United.
The former Middlesbrough duo were confirmed as the new management duo at Victoria Park on Friday afternoon.
They inherit a squad which will kick off next season in League Two following last month’s relegation from the third tier.
And Cooper said: “In all fairness to the supporters they haven’t half got behind the Club in the last few years.
“What we have to do is encourage them to come and give us a go.
“Just come back to The Vic and give us a go - and if they do that, then it’s mine and Craig’s job to put a team on the pitch they will enjoy watching week in and week out.
“That’s the message to Hartlepool fans really - just come and give us that chance.
“Put everything else out of your mind - we’re wiping the slate clean and what you’re going to see is hopefully a team you’ll be proud to come and support.
“We want to make this town and community proud of the football club again and the supporters are the link.”
