Moore, 63, takes over at the Silverlake Stadium following the departure of Chris Todd, who was dismissed on Wednesday after the Spitfires won only one of their opening four games.

This means a return to management for Moore who had been without a club since he left Pools in February.

During his time in the North East Moore spearheaded the 'Great Escape' which saw Hartlepool dramatically avoid relegation from League Two.

But now Moore turns his attention to getting into League Two as he looks to guide the highly-ambitious Eastleigh to promotion.

One familiar face at his new club will be Mikael Mandron, the former Sunderland striker who Moore signed on loan during his time at the Northern Gas and Power Stadium.
