Hartlepool United 2016-17 fixtures revealed. Or is it all a hoax?

Hartlepool United to start the season with a home date against Luton Town? Not bad is it.

And a final awayday in fancy dress in London, at Barnet. Sounds ideal, doesn’t it?

Apparantly not, the publication of the fixtures of Pools – and other Football League clubs – on social media are NOT what they seem.

The Football League (and Premier League) reacted quickly sending out a Tweet to say it was a hoax, adding that fans will have to wait until June 22 to learn the real deal.

“We can confirm the ‘fixture list’ published online at the weekend is a hoax,” said a Football League spokesperson.

“At this stage we are still about 10 days away from being able to review a first draft of the 2016/17 fixture list.

“It’s worth noting a number of the fixtures in the hoax list would not be permitted on those dates for operational & policing reasons.”

If the hoax fixture list is to be believed, Pools would host the Hatters on August 6 and over the festive period, Craig Hignett’s side would visit Morecambe on Boxing Day and entertain Grimsby on New Year’s Eve.

The second fixture Pools fans look for, the final away trip, has been listed as Barnet on April 27.

Pools fans went as Stormtroopers to Plymouth last month, maybe they could have gone as bees for a trip to the Hive?

Is it really an elaborate hoax or an unfortunate leak? We will find out in 16 days.
