Hartlepool started full of intent and bossed the early stages, but without being able to capitalise with a goal or two from the chances created.

Bishop Auckland were doing their best to stay in the game when a clearance from their half was played down the left wing and over the Pools defence.

Bishop Auckland took the lead against the run of play when a shot from outside the area gave Pools keeper Holly Robertson no chance.

However, Pools were straight back into the swing of things and drew level within two minutes.

A flowing move saw the ball end up at Jess Dawson’s feet, and 15 yards from goal, she caught the ball perfectly on the volley and despatched the ball into the far bottom corner.

Another two goals in the next few minutes decided the outcome of the final.

Sarah Rowbotham scored with a fine header from a right wing corner and Amy Barr directed her fierce shot into the net following another fine team move.

In the second half, Pools were in control and were creating opportunities with almost every attack.

However, some poor finishing prevented the score being added to.

Bishop continued to battle to the end, but Robertson didn’t have a save to make in the second half, thanks to a dominant performance by the Pools defence.

Although the action continued, there were no further goals in the second half, but the performance of the team meant the result was assured and the game was played out with all the substitutes able to be involved in the special occasion.
