“There are two [new contracts] I’d like to get done pretty quickly, then I can relax a little bit, then I can talk about the Adam Jacksons and things like that.”

Hignett is also preparing for the final match of the season at Plymouth Argyle on Saturday.

Pools will be without left-back Jake Carroll (calf) while Matthew Bates (ankle) is stuggling after coming off at half-time in the 2-0 defeat to Portsmouth last weekend.

“Jake Carroll is a no, Matty Bates is struggling,” said Hignett. “Apart from that, we are at full strength.”
