Boss: Pools fans needed new blood
CHRIS Turner today claimed Hartlepool United supporters were desperate for new blood after the almost disastrous struggles of last season.
The summer has been a busy one for the Pools director of sport with five new signings already among the ranks and up to three more expected to be on board by the start of the new season.
Victoria Park's exit door has also seen plenty of movement with six senior players leaving the club – Michael Nelson, Jamie McCunnie, Joel Porter, Jan Budtz, Arran Lee-Barrett and Matty Robson.
The playing staff is not the only aspect of the club which has changed with new goalkeeping coach Gary Walsh replacing the departed George Wood, who has joined former boss Danny Wilson at Swindon Town.
Turner believes the upheaval has not been a bad thing with Pools struggling for the last two seasons in League One with more or less the same squad.
"I personally think that where we are as a football club, change was needed," said Turner.
"I'm disappointed that George left. But I don't think it's a major loss in terms of having a new coach.
"That implements change and I think change at this moment in time is a good thing.
"I think it's good for the supporters because they don't want to keep seeing the same players every year.
"They want to see new blood and a difference from last season.
"The only way we could have got a difference is by bringing in new players and one or two other things we will change."
