Boss wants Hartlepool Utd to beat Bournemouth just like Carlisle

Neale Cooper

NEALE Cooper has another play-off rival in his sights – and the Pools boss wants to dispose of Bournemouth in much the same manner which sent Carlisle United packing a fortnight ago.

The Cherries, like the Cumbrians, are slightly-better placed than Pools in the League One promotion race.

But Carlisle soon discovered that Cooper’s boys mean business with their play-off charge as the hosts romped to a 4-0 victory.

Tomorrow sees Lee Bradbury’s southerners arrive at what promises to be an inhospitable Victoria Park, and Cooper is again calling on his players and the supporters to make it an afternoon to remember.

“After our last performance the challenge is can we build on that?” the manager told SportMail today.

“If we match that performance we will cause the majority of teams problems, we played some brilliant stuff against Carlisle.

“The boys know what is needed and they’re desperate to get back playing after this break because the last game was tremendous for everyone.

“The support that day was fantastic – can we get it again?

“It was good to watch and everyone enjoyed it.

“Everyone appreciates that support and it’s a great spur for the team.

“So tomorrow it’s about the same again from everyone and can we go even better?”
