EVAN Horwood has escaped serious injury despite leaving Victoria Park on crutches following Saturday’s 4-0 win over his former club Carlisle United.

The left-back (below) clashed knees with Cumbrians defender Frank Simek towards the end of the first half and left the action on a stretcher, to warm ovation from both sets of supporters.

But Pools boss Neale Cooper has confirmed that Horwood should be okay for Saturday’s trip to Bury.

“Evan got a knee injury but he will be okay,” Cooper told SportMail.

Read more about Horwood’s injury, plus more reaction, photos and Craig Hope’s full match report, in today’s Sportmail.
