Hartlepool Utd star Brown to replay faith ahead of Notts County clash

JAMES Brown would have had no complaints had he been dumped by Hartlepool United during the summer – but now he is determined to repay their faith.
Even towards the back end of last year some were questioning the club’s wisdom in extending the stay of the talented, yet fitness-flawed forward.
Brown, though, has now started – and impressed – in four of the last five matches.
It has led to a warm tribute from manager Neale Cooper, who last week said the 25-year-old, pictured, would have been plying his trade at a higher level had it not been for injury.
But Brown, on the other hand, is grateful he remains at Victoria Park and is adamant this latest revival will not prove to be another false dawn.
“If the club had said to me in the summer ‘look, get yourself off’, I would have said ‘right, fair enough’,” he admitted in a frank chat with SportMail today.
“But the chairman (Ken Hodcroft), Russ Green (chief executive) and everyone else has put a lot of faith in me and I want to repay that.
“I could have been looking for a new club in the summer, but I’ve been given a chance here and that’s what I was always hoping for – now it’s payback time.”
