Hartley ready to fight for place
PETER Hartley will fight to establish himself in the heart of Hartlepool United's defence this season.
The 22-year-old was deployed in his preferred central defensive role in the second half of Tuesday's pre-season opener against Almere City.
And will look to stay alongside Pools skipper Sam Collins in tonight's final Dutch friendly with FC Den Bosch (kick-off 7pm).
Hartley found himself in the less comfortable surroundings of left-back last season – playing just two games at centre-half in the closing stages of the campaign.
