Notts County win can help unwind Hartlepool Utd boss
Hartlepool United manager Neale Cooper
NEALE Cooper isn’t scared to unleash his angry side, as his players have now discovered – but he hopes it’s back to laughing and joking come tomorrow tea-time.
The Pools boss left Preston in a “rage” following Tuesday’s 1-0 defeat, revealing that he later collapsed into his bed such was the physical and mental exertion of such anger.
Cooper says that frustration has now passed heading into tomorrow’s home clash with Notts County, and the Scot admits he doesn’t want a repeat of that emotion any time soon.
“Micky (Barron) and Ritchie (Humphreys) had warned the lads that I could be like that,” said Cooper in reference to his post-match explosion at Deepdale after watching his side dominate yet leave empty handed.
“I’m not scared to show that side of my character.
“But I thought about it when I went home because I was actually physically tired with how I reacted after the game.
“I’ve never been like that for a while.
“But it wasn’t at all directed at the players, it was frustration really.
“They’ve seen me so far as happy-go-lucky because we’ve been winning or drawing games.
“I just could not believe we didn’t win it.”
