EVAN Horwood admits there are no easy games for Hartlepool United in League One this season.
Pools take on promoted Shrewsbury Town tomorrow afternoon, the Shropshire outfit having adapted well to life in the third-tier, finding themselves in the relative safety of 17th position.
They are unbeaten in seven and have not conceded in nearly five hours of football.
In comparison, Pools have won just once in 24 matches.
And, with that in mind, Horwood concedes that Pools cannot be too bullish in their approach.
“We’ve got to accept that every game is hard for us at the moment,” the left-back told SportMail.
“It’s a difficult position we’re in right now.
“We can talk and talk about things but until results pick up then it makes no difference.
“We have to do it on the pitch.”
Horwood, though, says that Pools can take heart from their end-of-year victory at his former club Sheffield United.
“That must have been a great day for the fans, I know we enjoyed it,” said the player who came through the youth ranks at Bramall Lane.
“Sadly it’s been our only away win all season, that’s not good enough.
“It was nice for me because it’s a long time since I’ve been back there.
“But it showed what we can do.
“We have to remember that going into tomorrow.”
And, of the suggestion that Pools may find it easier on the road at present, Horwood came back: “Definitely not – we just want games no matter where it is.
“It was frustrating not having a game last weekend because we desperately need games and points.
“The fans have been great with us at home so that’s not a problem.
“Perhaps our style might be suited to away games, we did well at Sheff United.
“But we can’t say that, we have to perform at home and away and start getting some points on the board, our current total just isn’t good enough.”
