CHEIK Tiote is almost certainly out of Newcastle United’s season-opener against Manchester City.
And summer signing Siem de Jong is struggling to be fit for the game, which will be staged at St James’s Park a week today.
Midfielder Tiote and forward de Jong were not involved in this afternoon’s 1-0 home win over Real Sociedad.
The Gazette revealed on Thursday that Tiote was battling to make the City game.
And United manager Alan Pardew doesn’t now expect Tiote to recover from a hamstring problem in time to face the Premier League champions.
But de Jong (calf) has an outside chance of being involved.
