LUIS Suarez could be banned for Liverpool’s visit to Newcastle United on Saturday after appearing to bite Branislav Ivanovic’s arm.
The Reds frontman was pictured apparently sinking his teeth into the Chelsea defender after a coming together at Anfield, before going on to score a 97th-minute equaliser in a 2-2 draw.
The referee missed the incident, but if the FA decide to take retrospective action after studying video footage, Suarez could face a lengthy ban.
In 2010, while playing for Ajax, Suarez he bit PSV’s Otman Bakkal on the shoulder during a 0–0 draw, and was subsequently banned for seven games by the Dutch FA.
Liverpool’s next game is at St James’s Park on Saturday tea-time, with the Magpies looking for a victory which would help them towards Premier League survival.
