NEW Middlesbrough signing Adam Clayton has settled into his new Middlesbrough surroundings straight away and is looking forward to striking up an understanding with star striker Kike.

Signed from Huddersfield Town last week after a summer-long pursuit of his services, Aitor Karanka has already been quick to praise his latest midfield ace, who made his full debut in Tuesday night’s 2-1 win at Bolton.

The 25-year-old says that while he has bedded into the team well, training with his new team-mates will only better his understanding.

He told BBC Tees: “It’s obviously slightly new.

“I’m not used to playing with two players a bit deeper but with time I will get used to it.

“Once I find the time I will find Kike’s runs and the more we can forge a partnership.

“It looks good and I enjoy playing in the team and I feel comfortable.”

Clayton starred in the midweek win at Bolton and will be in the starting XI when Boro host Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.
