TONY Mowbray has confirmed that Middlesbrough are set to offload misfiring frontman Kris Boyd.
The club allowed the 27-year-old to travel to Turkey yesterday for talks with top-flight side Eskisehirspor.
And Mowbray told SportMail he would not have allowed that to happen had the deal not been right for Boro.
“We’ve allowed him to go over there and have a look and if he’s happy with everything then potentially have a medical,” said the former Celtic boss.
“For him to get on an aeroplane and travel over there then our club has to be relatively happy with what the offer is.
“There’s still lots of details which need tying up before the deal is done but if it’s right for Kris and right for our football club then we wish him well and move on.
“We’ll just have to wait and see if we see him holding up one of their scarves or shirts in due course.
“If that doesn’t happen then we’ll welcome him back and hopefully he’ll start scoring goals like we know Kris Boyd can.”
