The Boro keeper was the only substitute Stuart Pearce did not sent onto the field in Sunday’s 2-0 win.
Pearce instead preferred Blackburn’s Frank Fielding.
Nearly 18,000 fans at Southampton’s ground saw Daniel Sturridge and Danny Rose hit a goal apiece during the first half for Pearce’s men.
They will now head to Denmark on Wednesday full of confidence.
Sunderland’s Jordan Henderson played the first half for the Three Lions.
