LEICESTER CITY 2 MIDDLESBROUGH 2
Tony McMahon scored a beauty for Middlesbrough.
SO near, yet so far.
Middlesbrough returned to the npower Championship’s play-off positions but the club’s wait for a first league win of 2012 goes on.
Jermaine Beckford continued his rich vein of scoring form to earn Leicester a point with a late equaliser.
Beckford had done everything but score before popping up with his sixth goal in his last four matches with four minutes remaining.
It had looked like a rare Tony McMahon goal would give Middlesbrough victory when he struck in the 79th minute.
Scott McDonald had earlier cancelled out David Nugent’s opener for Leicester to send the teams into half-time level.
The draw still saw Boro climb back into the npower Championship play-off places.
Mowbray’s side have not tasted a league victory since Boxing Day and tthe Boro boss knows his side must start winning again quickly.
“Ultimately we leave disappointed at not getting all three points, having been so close,” said Mowbray.
