TONY Mowbray admits that games are coming “thick and fast” as he prepares his team for the trip to Barnsley tonight (kick off 7:45pm) – hoping to build on their 1-0 victory over Leeds at the weekend.
Mowbray’s side have started the season solidly, remaining unbeaten after their opening three games and will be looking to add a further three points to their tally at Oakwell.
Boro recorded a magnificent win at Elland Road on Saturday in a fiercely-contested game which saw Tony McMahon sent off and the defender will now miss tonight’s game along with injured quartet Justin Hoyte, Merouane Zemmama, Jason Steele and Kevin Thomson.
The Boro boss has already conceded that his squad is “paper thin” but admits that they will have to get by with what they have.
He said: “We’ve lost 13 players off our books since last season and the squad looks a bit bare at the minute but we have a strong core of players who can compete with the best of them in this league.”
One man who will be involved tonight is Julio Arca after the Argentine performed a dramatic U-turn last week and signed a new two-year deal at the Riverside.
Arca came off the bench against Leeds at the weekend and Mowbray couldn’t be more pleased with his contribution.
