TONY Mowbray is ready to pitch Nicky Bailey straight back into Middlesbrough’s promotion push against Reading tomorrow.
The Boro boss – whose side won 3-1 at Millwall on Tuesday to reclaim sixth spot in the Championship – would have preferred to ease the Londoner back into action after two months out with a knee ligament injury.
But with Kevin Thomson suspended and Barry Robson, Faris Haroun and Julio Arca all doubtful because of injury, Bailey could yet be thrown a surprise starting jersey.
“There’s a fair chance he’s going to be around the squad,” said Mowbray.
“It’s probably too big a call for me to throw him straight in after he’s been out for seven or eight weeks – yet I wouldn’t rule that out.”
