DISAPPOINTED Tony Mowbray took few positives out of Middlesbrough’s spirited FA Cup exit to neighbours Sunderland.

But the Boro boss did reserve special praise for teenager Curtis Main, who impressed in his first start for the club.

Mowbray, who described Main as “asset rich”, said: “He is a boy who left Darlington a year ago on a free transfer.

“Sometimes you can try to mould assets of players if they are fast and powerful and they have a good left foot and a good right foot and prodigious leap, there is something to work with.

“They only don’t make it if they don’t listen, take it on board, grow as a footballer and have that ingredient to want to get better and learn.

“Since he came he has shown all those qualities and I am delighted for him that he has held his own against a Premier League defence.”
