TONY Mowbray sees no reason why Middlesbrough can’t follow in the footsteps of Premier League surprise packages Swansea City and Norwich City.
That pair have taken the top flight by storm this season following their promotion from the Championship and are currently comfortably stationed in the top half of the table.
And Mowbray admits that their success is something his Boro side can strive towards.
“It does give you hope, it gives you belief that you can go up the next level and compete,” he said.
“When you look at Norwich and the likes of Steve Morison, who was at Millwall last year, doing extremely well there, there’s no reason why we haven’t got the players here who can also compete and do well.”
Mowbray’s men need to get back to winning ways against Coventry City tomorrow afternoon after losing 3-0 at Blackpool and 2-0 at home to Burnley.
Barry Robson returns to the squad after sitting out two games through suspension.
But Lukas Jutkiewicz is denied a quick return to the Ricoh Arena after Boro and Coventry entered into a gentleman’s agreement that the striker did not face his former club this weekend.
