MIDDLESBROUGH boss Tony Mowbray welcomed his squad back to training today.
Mogga was thrilled to get back down to work toward the new npower Championship season after last season’s storming finish to the campaign.
But all the attention at Rockliffe was on whether out-of-contract stars Julio Arca and Andrew Taylor would be linking up with their colleagues.
Mowbray is resigned to losing player of the year Arca, but has not given up hope of persuading Taylor to stay.
Both players have been offered new deals to stay though each would have to take a major pay cut.
Mowbray feels Arca will go elsewhere while he hopes Taylor, who starred in Boro’s resurgent run in the second half of the programme, rejects Cardiff City.
Taylor was in Cardiff on Monday for talks.
The 24-year-old will become a free agent todaty after his contract comes to an end at the Riverside.
It would mean a reunion with new Cardiff boss Malky Mackay who had Taylor on loan at previous club Watford for a spell last season.
