HATEM Ben Arfa has been left out of Newcastle United’s starting XI for this afternoon’s game against Arsenal.

The forward made his first start in almost two months in the club’s 5-1 Boxing Day win over Stoke City.

But Ben Arfa has been left out of Alan Pardew’s side for this afternoon’s game against the Premier League leaders (1.30pm kick-off).

United manager Alan Pardew has brought Cheik Tiote – who served a one-game suspension against Stoke – into his team.

Ben Arfa – who came off the bench and scored against Crystal Palace last weekend – is among the substitutes.

Meanwhile, Arsenal forward Mesut Ozil – who has a shoulder problem – is not involved.

NEWCASTLE UNITED: Krul; Debuchy, Coloccini, Williamson, Santon; Anita, Tiote, Cabaye; Sissoko, Remy, Gouffran. Subs: Elliot, Haidara, Yanga-Mbiwa, Sammy Ameobi, Ben Arfa, Shola Ameobi, Cisse.
