MAPOU Yanga-Mbiwa has joined Newcastle United team-mates Moussa Sissoko and Remy Cabella in the France squad.
The defender, on a season-long loan at AS Roma, replaces the injured Laurent Koscielny.
Koscielny has returned to Arsenal to have treatment on an Achilles injury.
Cabella and Sissoko had previously been called up by France coach Didier Deschamps.
Yanga-Mbiwa, signed from Montpellier in January last year, joined Roma on transfer deadline day last month.
The 25-year-old has impressed in his early outings for Rudi Garcia’s Serie A side.
The decision of United manager Alan Pardew to let Yanga-Mbiwa leave attracted criticism from some fans.
