MATHIEU Debuchy’s completed a £5.5m move to Newcastle United from French club Lille.
The right-back has signed a five-and-a-half year deal at St James’s Park.
Debuchy, 27, won’t be available for tomorrow’s FA Cup game against Brighton and Hove Abion.
The France international is expected to make his debut against Norwich City at Carrow Road on January 12.
“It’s great to become a Newcastle United player,” said Debuchy.
“After many great years at Lille, I felt I was ready for a new challenge, and can’t wait to play for such a big club in the best league in the world.
“I hope I can bring soemthing fresh to the team and help us get the highest possible position in the Premier League.”
United manager Alan Pardew added: “It’s no secret we’ve been trailing him for some time now, and to have reached this point fills me with great excitement and anticipation in respect of what he will be able to offer the team.
“He’s an established international payer – it’s a real coup for the club.”
Debuchy will wear the No26 shirt at Newcastle.
