ALAN Pardew says he was “sad” to see Joe Kinnear lose his job at Newcastle United.
Kinnear left the club this week after almost eight months in a director of football role.
The 67-year-old, controversially put in charge of “all football-related matters” last summer by club owner Mike Ashley, had been blamed for the club’s failure to make a permanent signing in the last two transfer windows.
But Pardew said: “It’s sad to see anybody lose their job.
“He did a lot of good work here.
“But the decision was the board’s decision.
“My job is working towards getting the club’s position in the league more secure.”
