BAFETIMBI Gomis’ future is the subject of reports in France, while Liverpool’s left-back hunt – which could affect Sunderland – may be scuppered by Arsenal.
Newcastle United are believed to have pulled out of the race to sign Gomis from Lyon after failing to agree a deal with his representatives.
And reports in France from RMC suggest Marseille are interested in signing Lille midfielder Florian Thauvin, 20, and striker Gomis, 28.
Meanwhile, Sunderland’s hopes of signing Aly Cissokho on loan may depend on whether Liverpool switch their attention to another left-back.
The Daily Express today claims Liverpool’s loan move for Bayern Munich left-back Diego Contento, 23, will depend on whether Arsenal are able to complete a deal for Bayern midfielder Luiz Gustavo, 26, after the German champions confirmed they would only let one of the two players leave this summer.
