NEWCASTLE United star Hatem Ben Arfa says Loic Remy has already become a vital part of the team.
Remy was United’s only summer acquisition, joining on a season-long from Queens Park Rangers.
It ended a long chase for the attacker, who the Magpies tried to sign last season, only for the 26-year-old to turn them down and move to QPR instead.
Ben Arfa is delighted, however, that his fellow France international has finally linked up with him - with an instant impact.
It was Remy who provided the pass for Ben Arfa’s stunner against Fulham, and his run and cross at Aston Villa was also eventually converted by the Toon No10 for the opener.
“Loic has produced two assists in two games,” said Ben Arfa.
“He’s very important to us.
“He’s so quick and has plenty of skills.
“He is a very good player.
“We now have more talent in our team.
“Everybody did their job at Villa and now we must do it again.”
While the 2-1 win at Villa was part of a good team performance, Ben Arfa was the shining light.
His man of the match performance followed on from his fine start to the season, as he responds to manager Alan Pardew’s call for more consistency.
And he hopes to continue his good form when Steve Bruce brings his Hull City side to St James’s Park on Saturday.
“I’m just trying to do my best,” added Ben Arfa. “I did a big pre-season.
“The manager has told me I need to be consistent.
“I need to do it EVERY game, not one game on and one game off.
“Villa is out the way and I must do exactly the same against Hull.
“That is my objective, I want to be at that high level.”
