SHOLA Ameobi believes European football suits him.
And the statistics of the striker – who has scored against Barcelona at the Nou Camp in the Champions League –bear that belief out.
The challenge for Ameobi, 30, is to edge closer to Alan Shearer’s remarkable European goalscoring record.
“Hopefully, I can add a few more goals to my tally and and to get a bit closer to the great man,” said Ameobi.
“I certainly believe that the European-style of football suits my game.
“You get a little bit more time on the ball, I felt.
“You get more time to get the ball down, and that’s how I want to play.
“Those nights used to suit me, and hopefully, when we get those European nights again, I can help us create some history again.”
On the record itself, Ameobi added: “It’s something you can look back on when you have retired.
“You just have to continue to focus. As a striker you want to score goals, and I’m no different.
“I want to score as many goals as I can to help this team, and hopefully I can do that this season.”
Ameobi has made 37 European appearances for United.
