XISCO has hit the goal trail for Newcastle United.
The forgotten striker scored a hat-trick in a 5-1 win over Stoke City last night in an U21 game.
Xisco made the last of his 11 first-team appearance for the club in August 2010.
Since then he’s had two loan spells at Deportivo La Coruna, the club which sold him to United for £5.7million in 2008, but a move back to his native Spain didn’t materialise this summer.
“Newcastle hasn’t worked out well for me, but I still have one more year,” Xisco said. “This is my last season. I would like to play and be at my best for Newcastle.
“I decided to stay here, rather than go to Spain to a club I didn’t want to go to.
“I’m happy that I made the decision. I love the club, and the city, and I’m comfortable with my team-mates.”
James Tavernier and Mehdi Abeid were also on target last night at a wet Whitley Park where 221 fans watched the Development League game.
