THE transfer window is hotting up, and new Manchester United boss Louis Van Gaal could be about to embark on a spending spree.
Reports this morning suggest Van Gaal is closing on on a trio of signings as he looks to remodel his squad.
Inter Milan are willing to let Colombian midfielder Fredy Guarin, 28, leave the club and join Man United, according to the Daily Star.
And United have also been given hope in their bid to sign £30m-rated Roma defender Mehdi Benatia, 27, but they face competition from Chelsea and Real Madrid, say the Daily Express.
But the Daily Mail reports United are ready to move for Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen, 28, and they are prepared to pay £15m to beat off competition from Barcelona. Daily Mail
Elsewhere, Newcastle winger Hatem Ben Arfa’s future is under discussion again, while it’s quiet on the Sunderland front. However, Liverpool could lose a key duo this summer.
