DEMBA Ba’s first goal against Reading was labelled “majestic” by Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew.
Ba took his goal tally for the season to six with two strikes in Saturday’s 2-2 draw against Reading at the Madjeski Stadium.
Cheik Tiote created the first with a long ball which was superbly volleyed past Alex McCarthy by Ba.
And Reading were furious at the second, with Ba handling as well as heading a cross from Shane Ferguson.
“The first one was majestic,” Pardew told the Gazette. “That’s what you get in the Premier League – you might not play well, but two quality players came up with a great moment.
“That gets you back in the game. The pass was magnificent, but the finish was out of the top drawer.
“Only special players can get that kind of contact with the ball coming over their shoulder.”
Meanwhile, one report yesterday said United could do a swap deal for Liverpool’s Andy Carroll – with Ba going the other way.
However, such a deal couldn’t happen due to rules which mean a player can be registered for three clubs in a season, but only play for two of them.
