ALAN Pardew wants Newcastle United to secure European football against Stoke City – then ask Tony Pulis a favour!

United could mathmatically be guaranteed a return to Europe after a five-year absence by the end of the weekend.

A home win over Pulis’s Stoke side on Saturday and a draw or defeat for Everton against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday would clinch the Europa League spot that was set to be awarded to the winners of the FA Cup final, which will be contested by Liverpool and Chelsea.

“Stoke are a team we’re trying to emulate,” said Pardew.

“They got in the Europa League last year through the FA Cup, but they played in Europe on merit.

“That affected their league position this season and it’s something I’ll have a conversation about with Tony Pulis after the game.”
