DARYL Janmaat says he’s baffled by his omission from Holland’s squad.
The Newcastle United defender was left of out by coach Guus Hiddink for the Sunday’s Euro 2016 qualifier against Latvia.
Janmaat – who helped Holland reach the World Cup semi-finals in the summer – had been a regular for his country.
However, the 25-year-old made a mistake in his last appearance for Hiddink’s side in September, and was forced out of the last squad through injury.
Asked about his omission by Voetbal International, Janmatt said: “I really have no idea – I was not even in the pre-selection. That did come as a surprise.”
Janmaat added that Hiddink had not given him an explanation for his exclusion.
The right-back, signed from Feyenoord in the summer, set up both Newcastle’s goals last Sunday’s 2-0 win over West Bromwich Albion.
Janmaat has been a key figure in United’s five-game winning streak.
