PAPISS Demba Cisse is determined to repay Alan Pardew’s faith in him – in goals.

Pardew handed the striker Newcastle United’s coveted number 9 jersey after he joined in a £9m deal from Freiburg.

The 26-year-old is already back with his Senegal team-mates ahead of the African Cup of Nations after signing a five-and-a-half year deal at St James’s Park on Tuesday.

While his visit to Tyneside was brief, the time spent at the club left an impression on Cisse, who was prolific in his two years in the Bundesliga.

“I met Alan Pardew and I had a very good conversation about the future,” said Cisse.

“I was very impressed by what he said and the plans for the club moving forward.”
