STEVEN Taylor has been backed to come back stronger from his latest injury.
Taylor’s season looks to be over after the Newcastle United defender suffered an Achilles injury against Chelsea last weekend.
The 25-year-old, who has overcome a series of injuries in recent seasons, had an operation this week and manager Alan Pardew doesn’t expect him to recover before the end of the campaign.
Taylor’s form alongside Fabricio Coloccini in the centre of Pardew’s defence had led to calls for him to finally get senior England recognition.
But luckless Taylor’s club and country hopes are on hold as he sets about a long rehabilitation process.
However, goalkeeper Tim Krul, a close friend of Taylor’s, is confident the former England Under-21 international will be stronger mentally – and physically – when he returns to action.
“It’s a horrific injury for Steven – I feel really sad for him,” Krul told SportMail. “I just wish him well.
“He’s a massive player.”
