MIKE Williamson insisted Newcastle won’t rest on their laurels after their heroics against Manchester United.
Alan Pardew’s side take on Blackburn Rovers in the FA Cup’s third-round tomorrow.
The tie comes just three days after they convincingly beat Sir Alex Ferguson’s Premier League champions 3-0 on an electric night at St James’s Park.
Mindful of their Carling Cup defeat at Ewood Park earlier this season, Williamson is confident there will be no complacency against Steve Kean’s side, who are battling relegation.
“It’s nice to be sitting pretty in the league, but it’s always about the next game, and we’ve got the FA Cup now,” Williamson told SportMail.
“It’s all about recovery and getting ready for Saturday.
“The gaffer wants to do well in every competition. It’s a fantastic competition. Blackburn will bring a different threat.
“It’ll be a break from the league for them and it’ll be a different test for us.
“They’ve got Samba, and a lot of threats through the middle. If the lads show the effort and determination we did (against Man United), we should be OK.”
