NEWCASTLE United have announced that they have terminated Hatem Ben Arfa’s contract.
The French winger had six months left on his deal and had been set to spend the season at Hull City on loan.
However, a fall-out with Hull boss Steve Bruce saw the Tigers cut short his spell, and with no chance of Ben Arfa returning to Newcastle – despite the departure of former manager Alan Pardew – the club have decided to release the enigmatic star.
Ben Arfa is now expected to sign for French side Nice, as the Gazette revealed earlier this week.
A statement read: “Newcastle United can today confirm that Hatem Ben Arfa and the club have reached an agreement to terminate the contract between both parties with immediate effect by mutual consent.
“Newcastle United wishes Hatem all the best for his future.”
