Newcastle United’s Alan Pardew says he will try to stop Queens Park Rangers’ new trio tonight

QUEENS Park Rangers invested heavily in players late in the transfer window – but Alan Pardew reckons Newcastle United are still taking them on at the right time.

Joey Barton was among the high-profile arrivals at Loftus Road last month.

New owner Tony Fernandez sanctioned deals for Barton Shaun Wright-Phillips and Anton Ferdinand after taking over the club last month.

And Barton Ferdinand and Wright-Phillips will all make their debuts against United in the televised clash

Pardew, meanwhile, welcomes Shola Ameobi, Danny Guthrie and Steve Harper back into his squad.
