PAPISS Demba Cisse could yet leave Newcastle United – even though the transfer window has closed.
Cisse, the club’s No9, is reportedly a target for Rubin Kazan.
The Russian transfer window doesn’t close until later this month.
And Rubin Kazan could yet move for Cisse, who is frustrated at a lack of first-team opportunities at United.
The 28-year-old was the subject of deadline-day loan enquiries from Cardiff City and West Bromwich Albion.
Turkish club Trabzonspor were also interested in the Senegal international.
However, it remains to be seen whether Newcastle would be willing to part with Cisse, who missed Saturday’s Tyne-Wear derby with a back injury.
The striker, signed from Freiburg for £9m two years ago, could yet have a role to play for United this season.
Meanwhile, Newcastle manager Alan Pardew has revealed forward Sammy Ameobi was suffering from sickness before the club’s 3-0 defeat to Sunderland.
Ameobi was withdrawn at the half-time interval, having started a league game alongside his brother Shola for the first time.
“Before the game Sammy was sick, and we weren’t sure he was going to play,” said Pardew.
“That was another blow to our preparations.”
