CURTIS Good’s hopes of a loan move have been dashed – by injury.

The Newcastle United defender had a spell at Bradford City last season, and the 20-year-old was keen for more first-team experience.

But Good suffered a hamstring injury in Monday night’s Under-21 Premier League draw against Bolton.

And the problem looks set to sideline him beyond the Football League’s emergency loan window, which closes on November 4.

Coach Willie Donachie said: “It’s a shame for Curtis. He was just getting back to fitness, and hopefully maybe going out on loan.”

The Australia Under-20 international, signed from Melbourne Heart last year, told the Gazette of his keenness to play last month.

Good said: “I’d love another loan spell. I’d love to be playing pro football week in, week out.

“If I could, I’d be looking for a loan, but that’s up to the manager.”

Good made his senior Newcastle debut in the 2-0 Capital One Cup win over Morecambe in late August.
