REMIE Streete’s attracting interest from League One clubs keen to take him on loan.
The Newcastle United defender is keen to make up for lost time after missing much of the last two years through injury.
Striker Adam Campbell this week joined League One side Fleetwood Town on a month-long loan.
And 19-year-old Streete - who has just one year left on his contract - is looking to play competitive football away from St James’s Park in the short term as he looks to secure his longer-term future at Newcastle.
SportMail understands a couple of League One clubs are interested in taking Streete on loan.
However, the final decision will rest with United manager Alan Pardew and the club’s hierarchy.
Streete - who has featured for Newcastle’s first team in pre-season, and could be involved against Real Sociedad at St James’s Park tomorrow - has seen a number of players at the club benefit from loan football over the past two seasons.
With Pardew having four fit senior centre-halves - Fabricio Coloccini, Mike Williamson, Steven Taylor and Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa - available to him, Streete’s route to the first team is blocked.
The powerful player, from South Shields, told SportMail last month that he was keen for a loan spell.
“We’ve got four centre-halves at the moment, so I could get out on loan and get some experience,” he said.
“I’ve had a bad two seasons with me being injured – that’s hindered me a little bit – but I’ve got a year left on my contract at Newcastle.
“I want to push on here, get some experience on loan and see where I am at the end of the season.”
Meanwhile, Campbell is keen to hit the ground running at Fleetwood, who kick off their season with a home game against Crewe Alexandra this afternoon.
“I’ve been looking forward to the start of the season for months now, and now that’s it finally here, I get it a week early because I am coming to the Football League,” said the 19-year-old.
“It’s great for me. I just can’t wait to get going.
“No matter what league I was in, now the season is here, I just want to crack on and get playing.
“It’s great to be here at Fleetwood and hopefully I can score some goals, get some pitch time, and get a few wins on the board in the first few games.”
Campbell spent the second half of last season on loan at Scottish Premier League side St Mirren.
The England Under-19 international scored scored two goals during his spell in Paisley.
